What makes Icelandic Marine Collagen different?
Our collagen comes from wild, sustainably caught North Atlantic cod harvested in the pristine waters around Iceland - one of the world's most regulated, environmentally responsible fisheries. These cold-water fish produce naturally smaller peptides, which means faster absorption, higher bioavailability, and cleaner sourcing. Our marine collagen is manufactured in Iceland using Icelandic lava filtered spring water and powered entirely by renewable geothermal and hydroelectric energy. As the raw material is wild cod, it is free of antibiotics, growth hormones and contaminants.
Why marine collagen instead of bovine?
Marine collagen is almost exclusively Type I — the form that makes up ~90% of the collagen in your skin, joints, fascia, and connective tissue. Bovine collagen contains Types I & III, but Marine collagen offers smaller peptide size and a cleaner, more sustainable environmental footprint.
Why hydrolyzed collagen?
Hydrolyzed (pre-digested) collagen is broken down into short-chain peptides that are easier for your body to absorb and deliver to target tissues. This is the form supported by clinical studies for improved skin elasticity, hydration, and firmness.
Why is collagen listed as “protein” on the Nutrition Facts panel?
By FDA regulation, collagen must be listed as protein because it is made of amino acids. But collagen is a structural protein — not a “complete” dietary protein. Think: structure vs. strength. Both matter, just for different reasons.
Why include acerola cherry for Vitamin C?
Vitamin C is essential for the enzymes that build and stabilize collagen fibers. Acerola cherry is a natural, highly bioavailable source that supports collagen formation without the harsh aftertaste of synthetic ascorbic acid.
Why use natural caffeine from green tea extract?
Green tea delivers a cleaner, smoother energy lift plus antioxidant catechins that help protect collagen from oxidative stress and support recovery.
Why methylated B-vitamins?
Methylated B vitamins bypass common genetic bottlenecks, supporting: • Mitochondrial energy • Tissue repair • Healthy methylation • Collagen-renewal pathways
These forms are fully active, meaning your body can use them immediately.
Why add nicotinamide riboside (NR)?
Nicotinamide riboside is a clinically studied precursor to NAD+, the coenzyme required for cellular energy, repair, and mitochondrial function. NR supports: • Cellular repair pathways • Healthy aging mechanisms • Metabolic resilience • Tissue recovery and collagen renewal
It’s one of the most research-backed ways to support NAD+ naturally — without stimulants or synthetic additives.
NR elevates the formula beyond beauty — supporting performance, longevity, and repair.
Why include biotin?
Biotin supports keratin structure, the protein that makes up hair, skin, and nails. It plays a direct role in cellular energy metabolism and keratinocyte function, helping maintain strong hair, resilient nails, and a healthy skin barrier.
Paired with collagen, biotin supports a stronger, more vibrant outer structure from the inside out.
Why add glycine?
Glycine is the most abundant amino acid in collagen and supports: • Collagen peptide utilization • Detoxification • Gut and tissue repair • Sleep and recovery
It enhances the effectiveness of hydrolyzed collagen.
Why do you use natural preservatives?
We use a natural preservative system paired with a modern hybrid production method to preserve taste and safety — no parabens, no artificial stabilizers, nothing synthetic.
Are your ingredients clean and sustainable?
Yes. The dóttir beverages contains no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, sweeteners, or sugar. Our collagen is sustainably sourced, and our hybrid production process maximizes purity, safety, and flavor without synthetic additives.
